Build Your Email List with Twitter

Posted by: Julia Kline | Comments Comments Off

A lot of people don’t use social media because they think it’s like starting over.  Is this you?  You’ve spent a lot of time building an email list and you want to keep your focus there?
aWeber to the rescue!

Yes, that little email deliverability service we all know and love now makes it SUPER easy to build your email list while using Twitter. Here’s how: (scroll down for some FAQ’s)

* Create a broadcast message in aWeber
* Check the very last box on the page, “Publish in RSS/XML feed or HTML archive.”
* This opens a box for your Twitter update. Simply type in your Twitter username and password and voila! You now have a tweet version of your broadcast message!

FAQ #1: “But my email is 2 paragraphs – twitter only allows 140 characters!”
Answer: Your subject line becomes the tweet, with an aWeber tracking URL that takes the viewer to an html archive version of the email.

FAQ #2: “Why do I want to do this?”
Answer: Build your subscriber list silly! When you include a link in your broadcast email to sign up for your newsletter (or whatever method you have for gathering new peeps), then your Twitter followers can easily click that link and become new subscribers!
Answer: To add more value to your twitter followers, without creating more work for you.

FAQ #3: “Don’t I already have to have a bunch of Twitter followers for this to work?”
Answer: Technically, yes. Although if you write back and ask me, I’ll tell you a couple ways to get your message out even if you don’t yet have many followers. But this is also motivation for you to go GET some Twitter followers, now that you know you can easily capture them to your newsletter subscriber list.

Give it a whirl, and let me know what kind of results you get! The good, the bad, the ugly, I want to hear about it …
