Social Media meets Internet Marketing

By admin

Did you know you can use your Facebook page to “build your list?”

If you know us, you know we teach that social media – in general – comes from the opposite mindset. It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality. You want your followers to know you, like you and trust you – not “hate your guts you f*$#ing spammer!” LOL

But there are Green Island-sanctioned methods for using social media to increase the people in your network – ie, build your list.

Method #1: Tweet your aWeber Broadcast Messages (we’re getting lots of traffic today, so please be patient with how long the video takes to load)

Method #2: Put an Optin box on your Facebook Page This gets a little techy so I’m gonna go fast. If you need more explanation, leave a comment at the bottom. And to see an example of what I’m talking about, check out either mine or Chris’ Facebook Wall – see the box, under our Friends in the left-hand column, that asks for your email address? That’s an optin box, and that’s what I’m about to show you how to do.

  1. Do a search for “MyInfo” on Facebook – you want the app developed by XtremelySocial
  2. Click on the application name; then in the upper left hand corner click on Go To Application
  3. Click Allow
  4. Now you’re on the app page, and they’re giving you a big box in the middle of your page, ready for your html code.
  5. Go to aWeber, create a form, copy and paste the code into this box. TIP: use the header and footer to create a full explanation of what the heck this thing on your Facebook page is. (again, check out one of ours to see what I mean)
  6. The “preview” shows your form full-width but dont’ worry – it shows up column-width on your profile page
  7. Click Update, and the app will take you to your profile and ask you if you want to keep it or not.

Voila!

Hope you’ve found this helpful. If you did, leave a comment!

Excellent tip Julia! I think once you understand the power behind adding apps like this one, FB can bloom into a mega marketing tool.I’m going to add this one to my tool chest for later.

Thanks Julia. I just wish I had seen this about 9AM today. I market to offline businesses and I had a meeting just before lunch with a new client. We were talking about using social media to market their business. This tip to put the opt-in form on Facebook is definitely one of those neat little tricks that can separate us from all the other guys out there trying to do what we’re doing. Thanks for a great tip and you can bet I’ll watch for more from you.
